Light And Airy Bedroom Designs
3 Simple ways to create a light and airy bedroom. You'll be able to create a space that you can relax and have fun in this summer.
If you're stopping by from Zevy Joy, I'm so glad you're here! When did it get so hot outside? I'm pretty sure I say that every year but each time summer begins to roll around it seems that it heats up over night and I'm in no way ready for it. One minute we're enjoying the spring flowers with cool nights and the next thing I know it's 90 something degrees and it's humid! The heat here in Georgia is a big reason why we change things up a bit in our home in the summer. There's something about light colors, linens and a clutter free bedroom that make the summer heat bearable. My friend Krista from The Happy Housie is hosting another week of Season Simplicity summer series and I thought it would be the perfect time to share a few ways that we achieve that light and airy feel in our bedroom each summer.
Declutter
Decluttering with each season may seem a little much but I promise it makes such a big difference. There's just something about walking into a clutter-free space that allows us to relax a little easier and summer's all about relaxing after all. I like to keep things simple. It might not be for everyone but I love the airy feel it gives a space. You can read a few of my tips for decluttering here and some easy ways to keep tidy here.
Incorporate Light Colors
I'm not an all neutrals kinda gal. I do like pops of rich color here and there, but I do love a most light backdrop. One way that I like to keeps things light and airy in our room is to break out our lighter colored bed linens. I stick with my white and cream colored sheets, pale striped duvet and white quilt. Throwing in some pops of color with throw pillows, flowers, and framed prints is a great way to make sure you're space doesn't become too sterile. I love using blues, greens and soft pinks. Light colors give our bedroom a cool and airy look.

Light Weight Bedding
I do tend to be a bit of a bedding snob. One thing that I have realized about myself over the years is that I appreciate quality bedding. To me it's worth the extra expense. I like to stick with cottons and linens. Both are light weight and tend to breathe more than other fabric options. We typically only use a thin quilt in the summer months but I like to keep a comforter with duvet at the foot of the bed just in case. It also makes for pretty layers. You can find my bedding sources at the bottom of the post.
Personally I think summer time is a great time to decorate because it really doesn't call for a lot of fuss. You can keep it fresh and fun with very little effort.
